Carvalho says Ronaldo will sign new deal

AS Monaco defender Ricardo Carvalho is confident his former Real Madrid and Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo will sign a new deal with the Spanish giants amid speculations linking him with a sensational return to English football with former club Manchester United.

Rumors have consistently persisted about the future of the Portugal international skipper with Real Madrid who has himself seemed equivocal about his plans at times, and had openly admitted to being unhappy in Spain last season. Ronaldo recently posted a message on Twitter where he rubbished claims that he has signed a new deal with Madrid with his current one set to expire in 2015.

Monaco is also interested in signing the former World Player of the Year as well as Paris Saint Germain and Manchester City and David Moyes, the new manager of Manchester United remains coy about his pursuit of the club’s golden boy. But Ricardo Carvalho is adamant Ronaldo will ink a new deal with Madrid that will see him commit himself to the club for the foreseeable future.

Ronaldo has recently indicated that he intends to stay in Spain and see out his contract and Carvalho, who recently moved to Ligue 1 after three seasons in Spain, is sure that his compatriot will put pen to paper on a new and improved contract at the club. He stated that he is sure Ronaldo will sign a new deal, adding that every player who has left Madrid in his prime has lived to regret it.

Ricardo Carvalho went on to state that Cristiano Ronaldo is a winner and he wants to help Real Madrid win the biggest prizes in the world and will sign a new deal. The 35 year old, however, remains coy about the future of another Portuguese player Fabio Coentrao at the club.
