CARVALHO LAUDS TERRY PARTNERSHIP

Ricardo Carvalho has lauded his central defensive partnership with John Terry while they were at Chelsea. Carvalhoand Terry formed one of the best centre back partnership in Europe.

Retired Portuguese international Ricardo Carvalho spoke to FourFourTwo about his partnership with Terry and how it felt being in the Chelsea dressing room. According to him, they had a brilliant dressing room and achieved results on the pitch. Carvalho liked the mode of operation at Chelsea and it helped him to settle into his new surroundings immediately when he joined from FC Porto in his native Portugal.

Ricardo Carvalho revealed that his connection with Terry is not something that can be explained. Terry knewthe Portuguese player cover for him if he didn’t clear the ball and the feeling was mutual. The two defenders complemented each other as they formed a defensive platform that spurred to major titles.

Carvalho won three Premier League titles during his six-year stay at Chelsea with two of the three titles coming under the Jose Mourinho era. The Portuguese international won the league title in his debut season as masterminded by Mourinho.

Ricardo Carvalho played under Mourinhoat FC Porto and they won the Champions League title together at the club.In addition to the Champions League title, Carvalho and Mourinho won two league titles together at FC Porto before they repeated the feat at West London giants Chelsea.

Carvalho was one of the players who followed Mourinho from FC Porto to Chelsea in the summer of 2004. He moved from Porto to Chelsea alongside right-back Paulo Ferreira.He was at Chelsea for six years from 2004 to 2010, netting seven goals in 135 appearances in the Premier League.Carvalho left Chelsea to join Real Madrid in the summer of 2010. The Blues received £6.7m for the transfer of Ricardo Carvalho.
