Ricardo Carvalho is 37 years old and the Portuguese player does not have any plans of stepping down anytime soon as he signed a contract extension with As.Monaco for 1 more year. Even with his elevated age, Carvalho still plays an important role for his club as he made 25 appearances for As.Monaco in the previous season and decided to extend his stay with the French club which will be keeping him at the Stade Louis II at least until 2016.
After penning the new deal with As.Monaco, the experienced defender said that he is optimistic about the near future with his club as his adventure in the Ligue 1 will continue.
“I’m very happy to continue the adventure with Monaco. I feel very good at the club and with my teammates and staff. I like the project a lot and the fact I am working with young talented teammates. For two years, we have had very good results and we’re going to do everything to continue on that path.” Former Chelsea player, Ricardo Carvalho said after announcing and confirming his contract extension with As.Monaco.
Carvalho stated that he is happy as well as excited to continue helping out As.Monaco in all of their competitions but it has been a long time since the French club has managed to secure a major title as the last time that As.Monaco won the Ligue 1 was way back in 2000. That was over 14 years ago and unfortunately for As.Monaco, it will be extremely difficult for them to snatch it back anytime soon as their competitors have a financial freedom which gives their rivals a huge advantage.
Paris Saint-German are the current champions of France as they have been winning the Ligue 1 for 3 successive years and are the favorites on doing it again in the next season.
